The Trenton Systems MBS2000 is our latest modular blade system that supports between one and four independent single board computers or blade cards.  This modular rackmount computer mounts in a standard 19” component rack, and its rugged modular system design features a compact chassis depth.  The MBS2000 is ideal for those applications needing increased compute density while minimizing system size, weight, and power (SWaP).  The MBS2000 supports:

  • Rugged, metal-enclosed modular blade cards
  • Up to four single or dual-processor modular blade cards
  • Various I/O devices, M.2 NVMe storage drives, and network interfaces

Description

This 2U modular computer installs into standard 19" (483mm) component racks and supports up to 4 single or dual-processor modular blade cards. The housing for each modular blade card is enclosed in either a 1U or 2U metal carrier. Each carrier slides into the MBS2000 to support quick system re-configurations that enahnces system scalability and flexibility. The 2U modular blade carrier configuration supports up to 2 PCIe plug-in cards per 2U card,. A redundant power supply drives the MBS2000 modular computer.

Single Processor - MBK8257 is a long-life, designed and Made In America single board computer featuring a choice of an embedded Intel® processor 
Dual Processor - MSL8256 will be available later in 2017 and this single board computer will support dual embedded Intel® Xeon® processor options

The RSL8262 2U riser card aavailable for use with the single-processor MBK8257 computing blade and the R1U8269 1U data storage card available for use with either the MBK8257 or MSL8256 each have integrated M.2 connectors to support the following SSD data storage modules:

R1U8269 1U Data Storage Card - 6, M.2 connectors support NVMe modules

M.2 Data Storage Capacity

Depending on the MBS2000 configuration and NVMe module type, the modular computer’s total data storage may range up to 12.288TB* per system and beyond

*R1U8269 storage card on each of 4-modular blade cards, 6-512GB NVMe SSDs per card, 512MB x 6 x 4 =12.288TB

System Hardware Monitor

The MBS2000’s Smart System Management (SSM) software is embedded in the server’s modular computing blades and accessible via the dedicated management Ethernet LAN. Trenton’s SSM application software is built upon the industry standard Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) and its related sub-components including:
 

• Intelligent Platform Management Bus (IPMB)
• IPMI Platform Management FRU Information Storage Definition
• Intelligent Chassis Management Bus (ICMB)
 

Trenton SSM’s implementation of IPMI provides seamless and efficient remote system management and control capability from any monitoring location worldwide.  A short list of Trenton SSM application software functionality includes:
 

• Fan speed monitoring
• Fan condition & status
• Alarm monitoring
• FRU management
• Voltage monitoring
• Modular computing blade present
• Remote messaging (i.e. call home)
• Poll for processor & memory health
